“No one is past redemption”

Threatened with eviction, Amanda Moonstone stumbles across a lost Prince, of which there is a reward for his safe return. Little does Amanda know is that this “reward” is actually a wicked plan created by the tyrannical King Kimera to keep his claim on the Royal Throne intact. However, finding the Prince may just be the key to undoing the one mistake that has haunted Amanda for over a year. Because being a sorceress comes with a terrible price...

From the shadows, a mysterious man in black watches every step Amanda takes. But what is his purpose? And what part does the insidious Blood gem (her most guarded of gems) have to play in Amanda's future?

The Forest of Celt

A low whine came behind them. Amanda stopped and turned round. The wolf was behind them again, but this time it did not look like it was going to attack. Instead, it was sitting up, panting and tilting its head, looking more like a puppy dog.

"O . . . kay," Amanda said. She and Daryl took a few more steps. When she looked back, the wolf was behind them again, seemingly in the same position as before. "Okay, what gives?"

"I think he’s following us," Daryl said.

"Oh no," Amanda shouted. "You are not coming home with us, mister! No way! Go on! Scram! Shoo! Go away!"

The wolf lowered its ears, raised its eyes and let out a pitiful whine.

"Aww, he just wants a friend," Daryl said, stroking the head of the creature again. "He’s so cute. Can we keep him?"

"Don’t you start," Amanda said.

"Please?" Daryl begged. "He’s not dangerous. He was just hungry."

"No. Way!" Amanda replied sternly.

"Why not?" Daryl asked.

"Well, for one thing, I’m not allowed to have pets in my house. Secondly, I have too much stuff around my house that could be dangerous. Thirdly, in case you hadn’t noticed—he’s a wolf! And wolves aren’t exactly household pets!"

"But . . . I want to keep him . . ." Daryl’s eyes became wet and his bottom lip started quivering.

"Oh no, no, no, don’t do that," Amanda panicked. "Don’t give me that look, please? Look, if . . . if you stop that I’ll . . . I’ll . . . I’ll show you a magic trick! How’s that? Come on, kid, work with me here!"

Daryl’s eyes became so wet that the tears were about to burst forth any moment. His lip quivered like an earthquake as a cry rose up from his throat. Even the moon wolf was looking at her with big, sad eyes.

Amanda exhaled a deep sigh, defeated. "Fine! He can come home with us."

"Really?" Daryl cried, switching from sad to happy in an instant, as only a child could do. "Yay! Come on, Wolvie, you’re coming to stay with me and Amanda."

"Wolvie?"

"That’s what his name is," Daryl replied, stroking under Wolvie’s chin.

Amanda eyed Wolvie as he passed by and pointed at him. "You just better be house trained." Wolvie responded by lifting up his tail and farting in her face. She rolled her eyes upwards. "Lovely . . ."
