What was the inspiration for Dark Deliverance?
Dark Deliverance
"Hello to all! Many thanks for hosting me on your blog today."To get us in the mood, Tamela has shared with us her music playlist for the Hell on Heels series - enjoy!
"I was incredibly inspired to create my multicultural demon hunting heroine, Elle Connor, after spending last summer binge watching old episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. She gave me no peace, sometimes dragging me out of bed at 2am to finish her story and get it right. Lol Her hunting partner and lover, Patrick Holt, was inspired by a few musicians who I find ooze sex and charmingly dark humor. These are the heart of my Hell On Heels series, found in my newest release, Dark Deliverance."The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for Dark Deliverance - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"Oh wow! I could go on and on about the absolutely gorgeous three covers for the Hell On Heels series, created by the uniquely gifted Debbie Taylor. I gave her information about what I had in mind and she went far beyond that, capturing exactly what I had in mind and then some. I wanted something dark and sexy and I got just that! "Can you tell us something quirky about Dark Deliverance, its story and characters?
"Writing Elle was particularly fun because she had these quirks like always hunting in her black stiletto boots and devouring late night trash tv with chocolate treats. Patrick’s quirk is the need to always be right about everything until he learns that he has some things to learn from Elle."Who would you recommend Dark Deliverance to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"I would recommend novella #1, Heart of a Hunter to new adult readers and the other two novellas to all adult readers, as there are some parts that are a little spicy to outright steamy. Major warning: this series isn’t always about a Happily Ever After. There are some seriously heartbreaking moments."What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"My favorite things to write are paranormal romance and horror. I also love to read those two genres almost exclusively, unless a good contemporary romance novel comes my way. I’m currently delving into the work of Zora Neale Hurston because she was such a fascinating lady. I love the scares that come with writing horror and the thrill of marrying that to romance in my paranormal romance pieces."What is your writing process?
"I used to be a real pantser, just free writing as ideas came to me. I’ve since learned how to streamline and polish my work by creating a bare bones outline and writing from that, while adding in touches of inspired ideas. I’m a true night owl and don’t feel creatively inspired until around late afternoon. When I’m ready to write, I get the tea brewing, hit the music on my boom box, and have a seat at my desk. Sometimes, I’m still writing as the moon comes up and I’ll step outside to soak up the beauty of the witching hour with a glass of wine!"What is in store next?
"I’m pleased and excited to announce that novella #3 in the Hell On Heels series, entitled Hell Hath No Fury, has been recently contracted by The Wild Rose Press and should be released in late 2016. We get to see how far Elle and Patrick have come, but they’re also faced with a major crisis that may tear them apart and set Elle back on a self-destructive path. I promise every reader that it’s good stuff!"Excellent! We look forward to it :-)
"Thanks for taking time to chat with me today! I look forward to visiting your blog again soon."
