A very warm welcome to Julie Cross; thank you for joining us!

Here at BooksChatter we love music, so Julie Cross has shared with us her music playlist for Chasing Truth - enjoy!

What was the inspiration for Chasing Truth?

"My editor at Entangled Publishing, Liz Pelletier, really wanted a Veronica Mars type YA series. I had a project on the backburner for years that featured a female lead who was from a family of con-artists. I’d been dying for an excuse to pull that idea out again...we basically fused the two concepts together and Chasing Truth was born."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"Um, none. Seriously. I’m writing from the point-of-view of a badass girl who is a skilled liar. I’m neither of those things. I wish I were. But it’s incredibly fun to write characters and a plot that are nothing like me or my life. Pushes me out of my comfort zone too."
Who would you recommend Chasing Truth to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"I would definitely recommend this book to fans of the TV series, Veronica Mars. Also fans of YA author, Ally Carter’s books. And those of you that may have read and liked my sci-fi YA series, Tempest will enjoy the similar feel with uncovering mysteries and young people chasing down villains."
What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"The Young Adult genre is where I feel most at home. I have written some New Adult as well but with my YA leaning on the side of older YA and my NA being young for that genre, the two are virtually the same for me. At this point in my life, I can’t see myself writing anything but this genre. And yes, YA is my favorite to read. I struggle to get myself to read something outside the genre."
What is in store next?
"In January, I have another new series releasing. Book one is called OFF THE ICE. This series is Friday Night Lights with hockey. It revolves around a fictional Minnesota small town where the high school hockey team is the center and subject of all the town’s drama."
