"He’s seen me naked. I never should have taken this job..."

New York public relations consultant and self-proclaimed control freak Katie McDowell may have made the biggest career mistake of her life. She’s agreed to temporarily leave her beloved Manhattan to manage the company’s struggling New Orleans office, knowing her biggest client is television chef Andre Thibodeaux, whose massive masculine presence makes her feel hotter than the onset of menopause.

Finding her way in a funky new city and earning the trust of her employees is tough enough without annoying hot flashes, night sweats and ugly mood swings, not to mention the lingering memory of one steamy night she shared with the big man she thinks she can’t have.

Sexy, smart, and successful, Chef Andre has everything a man could want except the right woman, and he’s determined to learn why Katie rejected him. To convince her to stay in Louisiana, he’ll need to find a way to make her fall in love with him, as well as the vibrant southern city he calls home.

Teaser: Exclusive Excerpt

He beams another smile in my direction, looking hot and spicy, like the jambalaya his restaurant serves. I find myself staring at a small scar on his right cheekbone, the only flaw on an otherwise perfect face, wondering how he got it. An old football injury, a kitchen accident, or maybe a lover’s quarrel that got out of hand?
     Focus, Katie!
Another heat wave crashes over me and I feel an internal fire rushing to my head. Pressing one hand to my forehead, I try to determine whether I’m feverish…or something else.
“Ya look a little flustered,” Andre says.
I am not flustered! I am known for being cool, calm, and always in control. Sitting up straighter, I smooth my hair with one hand and ask, “Is it always so humid here?”
He leans back, totally at ease, and looks me over while I try not to stare at his sexy little salt-and-pepper goatee. It felt divine next to my bare skin, and softer than I imagined it might be. The thought of our night together makes my face flush again.
“Yeah, but you haven’t experienced summer yet. Ya gotta chew the air a bit before ya can swallow it.”

Deep Blue [1]

Love is the most addicting drug of all...

“Barely-not-starving” Denver artist and cancer survivor Claire Martin has almost given up finding an older man with a youthful spirit when she meets charismatic New York soul singer Robert Silver of the legendary band Deep Blue. She soon learns that hero worship can be dangerous, especially when the object of her desire comes with a disturbing past.

Robert is smart and sexy with a self-deprecating sense of humor, but he’s also a man who has suffered from panic attacks, drug abuse, a well-publicized stint in rehab and the death of his wife, screenwriter Elaine Jordan. When his demons resurface on tour, jeopardizing his voice and the band’s future, Claire must decide if she’s willing to take the biggest risk of her life—betting her future on a troubled man.

Landscape artist Claire Martin has married the love of her life, legendary singer Robert Silver of the band Deep Blue. But her peaceful world is rocked by an unexpected revelation that crushes her dreams and causes her to question everything she knows about her famous husband.

Although Robert is clean and sober, and embarking on a new opportunity with his musical partner Art Hoffman, the consequences of one night long ago fracture his family and threaten his marriage to the woman who loves him like no one else. Will love survive, or will career pressures, family turmoil and the ever-present specter of the paparazzi destroy their new life together?
