A very warm welcome back to Sara Wolf; lovely to see you back on BooksChatter!

What was the inspiration for Remember Me Forever?

"The inspiration for this book was definitely giving Isis and Jack a satisfying, happy ending together. That was the one thing I burned to do while I was writing it."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"There’s a TON of me in this book. Isis is pretty much the personality I had when I was a teenager, though she’s a bit more wacky and brave than I am. But we’re two peas in a pod, and we pretty much thought the same way about ourselves – low self-confidence and all. We tried to cover it up by pretending to be confident, but as we all know, that only works for so long."
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for Remember Me Forever - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"I’m not entirely sure who the artist is, but I should definitely find out and give them a hug, because they outdid themselves! I love the color scheme. I didn’t choose it per se – it was given to me. There were a few other covers that I adored, but this one is just as cool."
Why should we read Remember Me Forever and what sets it apart from the rest? What makes your series unique?
"If you want to see a great conclusion to two characters’ stories, then I highly recommend it. It’s a happy ending with wonderful character growth! The series itself will make you laugh, cry, and then laugh again while you’re crying!"
Can you tell us something quirky about Remember Me Forever, its story and characters?
"The two main characters were actually modeled after fanfiction characters I wrote a long time ago!"
Who would you recommend Remember Me Forever to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"I’d recommend this book to anyone struggling with self-esteem issues. As warning, there is quite a bit of fatness-oriented language, in that Isis was once fat. She has a bit of a skewed view of herself because of the (often hideous) way we treat fat people in society. I wrote her during a phase in my life where I wasn’t aware of just how damaging our judgements of fat people are, or how health has nothing to do with how much you weigh. I know better now, but Isis certainly reflects those uneducated views in the books, for which I apologize and would like to warn others of. Also, the way in which she lost weight was definitely not healthy. There’s also quite a bit of swearing, so be warned of that as well!"
If you could / wished to turn Remember Me Forever and the Lovely Vicious series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"I would LOVE the director/team who did Ten Things I Hate About You. That’s just my all-time favorite high school movie."
What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"I love to explore different genres, much to the chagrin of my readers. ;) I love sci-fi fantasy, and it was my first love in terms of writing, but it turns out, what you love and what you’re good at are sometimes different things, and I apparently am much better at writing contemporary."
What is your writing process?
"I tend to write about 2k words a day, and if I don’t, I feel like my day was wasted. Some of those words don’t make it to the final draft, however, because sometimes it just ends up being 2k words of verbal vomit. I always go in order, I can’t jump around and write different scenes at all. I have to feel the flow of the book, of the characters, as I’m writing, or it just doesn’t mesh into a cohesive whole at the end."
What is in store next?
"I’ve got a great young adult fantasy book called BRING ME THEIR HEARTS, about a girl with no heart who’s out to steal a prince’s heart."
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"Sure thing! Here it is! This is a picture of me and my cat when she was still a baby!"
What a gorgeous blue baby! Thank you for sharing!
"Thank you Flora! This was so much fun!"
