What was the inspiration for Life on Base: Quantico Cave?

What was the inspiration for Life on Base: Quantico Cave?
"We have a great love for our country and respect for the people that serve in our armed forces. Our eldest son served in Iraq along with his cousin. It was crazy because while there they ran into each other in Kuwait and had lunch. Several nephews continue to serve. Both of us were raised by veterans, so we wanted to tell the story of the service members children."How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"The basis of the story is reality. Although the events and personalities are mixed in with fiction, the entire story is a true representation of Life On Base."Why should we read Life on Base: Quantico Cave and what sets it apart from the rest? What makes your book unique?
"Before we wrote this story, we did a good search of books currently available. Most all of the other stories are biographical and tell a story of loss. The stories are good, but they don’t necessarily relate to the rest of America. We wanted to write a story that both tells the story of growing up a Military Brat and is very relevant to anyone that picks up the book."Can you tell us something quirky about Life on Base: Quantico Cave, its story and characters?
"Well, as with a lot of stories, Life On Base can be read on two levels. There is the story, and many readers enjoy the story with a quick read. Now if you take the time to understand the social message, the story is very relevant to the problems every middle grade and young adult face every day. But, if the reader takes the time to understand the dream scenes and looks up the dream symbols, the dreams reveal a great deal about the characters and story line."What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"We enjoy taking reality and bending into a “what if” story. Our first novel is based on current scientific research into Alzheimer’s and computer systems capable of mind uploading. Using reality creates a story that is both believable and engaging."What is in store next?
"We are currently in the middle of creating a second story in the Life On Base series. This one focuses on the unique experiences of Stephen’s sister Lori. This one is a lot of fun and includes many of the animals that serve our country."
