A very warm welcome to Sara Wolf; than you for joining us on BooksChatter!
What was the inspiration for Love Me Never?
Love Me Never
"Hey guys! Sara Wolf here! Thanks so much for having me today. "And thank you for sharing with us your music playlist for Love Me Never - enjoy!
"LOVE ME NEVER was inspired by my love for those pesky love-hate relationships. I hadn’t seen them done how I liked them, so I set out to write one that would satisfy my own craving. ;~) I’m so glad other people will get to read it, too!"How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"Isis is definitely the girl I wanted to be in high school – brave, bright, smart as hell and ready to do anything for her friends. Jack is another part of me, as weird as that sounds; quiet, disgusted with people, holding the world on his shoulders. I relate a lot with both of them, which is why it gives me so much satisfaction to see them together."The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for Love Me Never - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"I totally didn’t choose the cover’s concept! I’m not sure of the artist – the cover has gone through so many changes, I’m tentative to say who it was for fear I might be wrong! But I think it came out beautifully every time, and especially the last time."Why should we read Love Me Never and what sets it apart from the rest?
"I feel strange tooting my own horn, but I’m strictly doing it out of love for LOVE ME NEVER. It’s a book very close to my heart, addressing all kinds of issues, such as guilt, depression, assault. It’s dark, but Isis has such a funny outlook on life I can’t bring myself to be sad for all that long. She’s so brave, plain and simple, and I’m so proud of her. Read this if you like witty banter and bittersweet feelings in your heart."Can you tell us something quirky about Love Me Never, its story and characters?
"Isis was named after the most beautiful girl in my school when I was in high school. I thought she was just the coolest, and her name was the coolest."Who would you recommend Love Me Never to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"There are definitely mentions of physical, mental, and sexual abuse. As a survivor of two of those, I’d like to warn anyone who’s sensitive and/or experienced these things before to take a grain of caution salt. Be safe, be well, and know the book will always be here for you, no matter how long the break you might need to take will be."If you could / wished to turn Love Me Never and the Lovely Vicious series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"I would LOVE someone like Isabelle Fuhrnam (Clove, from the Hunger Games movie!). As for Jack, that’d be a much, much harder cast. I haven’t really seen a male actor that looks like him quite yet!"What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"I love writing any and all genres, as long as they’re YA! I’ve written YA contemporary, but also YA scifi, and I absolutely adore YA fantasy the most."What is your writing process?
"I let the story unfold naturally as I write – the characters definitely pull the story along."What is in store next?
"LOVE ME NEVER is part of a series, a trilogy to be precise. Be on the lookout for the next two books! As for my future plans, I think a YA Fantasy is in order."Thank you very much for talking to us and we hope to see you back soon!
