A very warm welcome to Kari Peterson; thank you for joining us today.

Here at BooksChatter we love music; do you have a music playlist that you used in Journey Through Morowak, or which inspired you whilst you were writing it?

"Thank you for the opportunity to be featured on your blog! I also LOVE music!  I have a very specific channel I created on Pandora that I always have playing when writing this series.  It mainly consists of composed music.  Howard Shore, Hanz Zimmer, Jeremy Soule, and Michele McLaughlin play most often."
Ah - here in the UK we cannot use Pandora.
What was the inspiration for Journey Through Morowak?

"Journey Through Morowak was born from a location.  The area within the story is the same landscape that surrounds my family lake house.  We frequent this vacation home during the summer and it hold so many wonderful memories.  I have hiked across the difficult terrain and driven along the dirt backroads and my mind ran with ideas.

Arabella’s character developed first as her journey was what formed the story, but Briol’s character developed quickly as his abilities were exciting!  Everything from there came easily and naturally.

This is a story of honor and testing your worth, but also having to choose whether or not to follow your heart."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"I find that I do tend to put a lot of myself in my books.  A rather unconscious effort, but I am told I do by friends and family.  Playful banter between characters, beautiful locations, and traits belonging to both the “good” characters and the “bad” characters."
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover.  Can you tell us about your cover for Journey Through Morowak - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"I feel very lucky to have worked with Graphic Artist, Samuel Vega on this cover.  He is an amazing photographer.  I gave him a few ideas I had for the cover and he ran with it.   He far exceeded my expectations, and you will see his work on future covers as well."
Why should we read Journey Through Morowak and what sets it apart from the rest? What makes your book unique?
"I really enjoy reading books that take you on a rollercoaster journey through emotions, but teach you something and leave you happy at the end.  If that is your kind of story, then this is a perfect story for you.

It is a fantasy adventure, and I created the world within it.  I incorporated some of my likes and dislikes into the story, so I suppose it does contain much of my own personality which makes it different from everyone else! "
Can you tell us something quirky about Journey Through Morowak, its story and characters?
"I suppose there is only one thing I can mention.  My love for horses is so great that I will incorporate a horse in every single story I write.  No matter the genre."
Who would you recommend Journey Through Morowak to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"I would recommend this book to young adult readers to the fabulously mature readers.  If it were a movie I would give it a PG-13 rating."
If you could / wished to turn Journey Through Morowak and the Morowak series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"Arabella and Briol would be played by Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth.
Zorinthallis, my favourite character, needs a specific voice.  I could see Avi Kaplan (from Pentatonix) or Mark Fischbach (Youtube gamer aka Markiplier) killing it.
The location would be near Cheney, WA, and I would have Howard Shore or Jeremy Soule compose the music."
What do you like to write and read about?  Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"When I think of a story and become invested in it - that is what I write.  I am still new to the biz, as I have only completed two books, but I have enough material to keep me busy for years.

My library contains books from every genre out there and I intend to write at least one story for each as well.  The thought is very exciting!"
What is your writing process?
"I don’t know if I really have a process.  A story invades my brain and it is clear, vivid and plays over and over like a movie until I get it all on paper.  I have multiple books up there at the moment. I literally write from beginning to end until it’s finished.  My problem is finding the uninterrupted quite time to download it from my brain to the computer.  Haha"
What is in store next?
"Journey Through Morowak is the first book in a series of 6, possibly 7!  I am almost finished writing book 2 of the Morowak series, so I am very excited.  I am completely invested in this story!"
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"I love my lab, Snickers.  She is two years old this month, and she is sweet, good natured, and smart as a whip."

Wow, she is beautiful :-)  Hello Snickers!
