A very warm welcome to John Geers; thank you for joining us on BooksChatter!

What was the inspiration for Emerge Beyond Circles?

"I wanted to write a realistic love story. I wanted to write a story that is grand in scope. So I did."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"When I planned the characters I knew I wanted the collection of main characters to represent me. Collectively, they are me. It’s pretty cool."
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for Emerge Beyond Circles - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"My cover artist is Megan Crewe. She was amazing to work with. The cover is magic. It connects to the story in a powerful way."
Why should we read Emerge Beyond Circles and what sets it apart from the rest? What makes your book unique?
"This is a poetic love story. It will force the reader to deal with a range of emotions and force them to ask deep introspective questions concerning life and love."
Can you tell us something quirky about Emerge Beyond Circles, its story and characters?
"The main character is Thuban-Pol, the current witch of an eternal coven. If you love deep meaningful names you will love the history of her name."
Who would you recommend Emerge Beyond Circles to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"Anyone who has ever had the courage to love should read this book."
If you could / wished to turn Emerge Beyond Circles and the Eternal Coven series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"I would love to see a fresh cast star in the movie. Much the same way the Twilight Saga was cast."
What has been your greatest challenge as a writer?
"The greatest challenge for me is finding time. I had to decide to make my writing a priority."
What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?
"I haven’t had any criticism that was difficult to take. A good review is this,
Thoughtful and complex characters draw you in and leave you feeling like you know them personally. The detail in the narrative immerses you in the story and you find yourself wanting to urge the characters forward in their quest. Though the story is fantasy, it feels very real and the magic sparks your imagination. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next volume!"
What is in store next?
"Book two in the series is due out in 2018."
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"My favorite place in the world to write is at the Lutsen Resort in north Minnesota on the shores of Lake Superior."
