The Dylan Dilemma
To start, do you have a music playlist that you used in The Dylan Dilemma , or which inspired you whilst you were writing it?
"Sorry, I don’t have a playlist. With this book I had to have complete quiet to write."What was the inspiration for The Dylan Dilemma ?
"Since THE DYLAN DILEMMA is the second in a series, the idea came from secondary characters in ABOUT LAST SUMMER, Kenzie and Dylan. How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
Why would Kenzie be hesitant to date a great guy that she’s really into? There had to be something buried in her past to cause that reluctance."
"A bit of the insecurity that comes with being a student athlete is part of my background. Also, many parts of the characters reflect my sense of humor."The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for The Dylan Dilemma - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"I love my new cover! It perfectly goes with the first in the series, but also shows two characters who have a lot on their minds. My publisher, Swoon Romance, chose the concept and the artist. Here is ABOUT LAST SUMMER for cover comparison."Why should we read The Dylan Dilemma and what sets it apart from the rest? What makes your book unique?
"This particular teen romance series is basically about learning to trust others and ourselves. I’ve put my characters in situations where they were challenged by their own fears or lack of trust to show them growing."Can you tell us something quirky about The Dylan Dilemma , its story and characters?
"The Bryson family are relatives of my main character, Kenzie. They are a fun-loving group of people who make an appearance in all three books in this series, usually to put the teens in unusual situations. In THE DYLAN DILEMMA, they have the teens adapt their current Halloween costumes into zombie costumes. So, if one has a wizard costume, it becomes a wizard-zombie, and so forth."Who would you recommend The Dylan Dilemma to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"I recommend this book to teens and adults who enjoy teen romance that runs toward the sweet side rather than the gritty."If you could / wished to turn The Dylan Dilemma and the About Last Summer series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"Ha, ha. I have no idea!"LOL - just find a way to feature your fur-babies (Bear and Dusty) and it would be grand ;-)
What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"I enjoy writing teen contemporary romance, fantasy, and mystery. And yes, they are definitely genres I enjoy reading."What is your writing process?
I usually begin by brainstorming with “what if?” questions and work up a premise from there. Then I figure out who the characters are in that premise, begin an outline, and start writing. Someday, when I’m grown up, I hope to develop a full outline before I start writing a first draft. What is in store next?
"I recently finished the third book in this series. It’s currently titled Amanda vs. the Universe, but I don’t have a release date yet. It’s a YA romance in which a girl who’s still getting over a broken heart is coming to realize she doesn’t really need a boy in her life after all. Until she meets one who’d like to change her mind."And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"I love dogs! Here is a picture of me with my sweet old dog and my three-month-old labradoodle puppy."Hello little Bear and beautiful Dusty! Lots of head scratches and kisses to you both! :-)
Thank you for shearing them with us, Patricia. I saw other pictures of then on Instagram and was in love x :-)
