ℚ Mystic Maples: Deerbourne Inn [10] - Tena Stetler

Today we have the pleasure of meeting up with author to talk about Mystic Maples (, The Wild Rose Press, Inc, 127 pages), a Paranormal Romance, book 10 in the Wild Rose Press' Deerbourne Inn series.

"Another great installment in the Deerbourne Inn series. I enjoyed digging deeper into the mystical elements of Willow Springs: this town has an interesting background with ghosts and witches. I'm enjoying all the paranormal twists!" - Jean, Amazon Review.

"Another great book to the series. The author does a great job building the story and pulling you in with all the paranormal activity and twists along the way. The characters are strong and well developed and the scenes are described in vivid detail." - Brenda - Amazon Review.

A very warm welcome to Tena Stetler; thank you for joining us on BooksChatter!

What was the inspiration for Mystic Maples?

"When The Wild Rose Press put out a request for submission for small town stories with quirky characters staying at The Deeerbourne Inn that had a colourful history and ghost, I knew I had to join the many authors putting this series together.

Each book is written by a different author.  The books range from historical, to mystery; paranormal to contemporary romance and everything in between.  I read the set up and my characters Silvanus and Mercy started chattering in my mind and Mystic Maples was born."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"The heroine in Mystic Maples, Mercy has a lot of me in her.  I have an insatiable curiosity and an overactive imagination which throughout my life has gotten me into trouble, like my character."
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover.  Can you tell us about your cover for Mystic Maples - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"When I saw this couple, I saw my characters Silvanus and Mercy.  If you look closely on the cover you’ll see that Mercy has one blue eye and one green eye as set out in the book.

My cover artist is Kristian Norris.  She has done all the covers for my books except one.  She understands me."
Why should we read Mystic Maples and what sets it apart from the rest?  What makes your book unique?
"My book Mystic Maples is part of a talented multi-author series The Deerbourn Inn.  It’s the brain child of The Wild Rose Press.  Mystic Maples is a paranormal Romance/Mystery with elements of time travel.

Want to leave your ordinary world behind?  Be whisked off in a romantic fantasy you’ll never want to leave?  Then Mystic Maples is the book for you!"
Can you tell us something quirky about Mystic Maples, its story and characters?
"Earth/Fire witch Mercy Rose's insatiable curiosity always gets her in trouble.

Silvanus Forrest's gypsy/fae heritage is a double-edged sword.  When Mercy discovers the truth, Silvanus’ well-ordered life unravels and they’re catapulted into the past to right a wrong."
Who would you recommend Mystic Maples to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"Anyone who enjoys fantasy, paranormal, romance with a little mystery and time travel sprinkled in."
If you could / wished to turn Mystic Maples into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"Location would be in a small Vermont town.

Director David Yates or Chris Columbus.

Actors: Chris Hemsworth (Silvanus) and Gal Gadot (Mercy)."

What do you like to write and read about?  Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"My tastes in books are eclectic.  I write paranormal romance/mystery and read it too.  Other than that, I love mysteries, cozy mysteries, and some thrillers.  Anything with magic intrigues me.  I escape reality through the books that I read and write."
What is your writing process?
"I write by the seat of my pants, so to speak.  I write my scenes out of order, my chapters out of order, but somehow in the end they all come together.

I start out with a five-page character worksheet for each character in my book and work from there."
What is in store next?

"Currently I am working on the 3rd book in A Witch’s Journey series.  This time the book is set in Salem, MA and revolves around a Veterinarian and Wildlife Sanctuary Director.

I also plan on a sequel to Mystic Maples, but rather than set in Willow Springs, Vermont, it will be set in Mercy’s family castle in Scotland with mysteries and ghosts abound.  Maybe even a wedding.

The sequel to Charm Me was just turned into my editor, I’m excited about that.  Summer’s brother, Daylan comes to town with a Scottish Highland ghost in tow.  Daylan has no idea where the ghost came from or why he is following him and needs Summer’s assistance.  They both get more than they bargained for."
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"Yes, I have a wonderful Chow Chow dog, Mystic Rayne, and my Eclectus parrot, Taco.

I enjoy sitting in the sunroom with Taco in her climbing tree and Mystic at my feet.  I read my books to them.  They are great listeners.

The picture I have included below is Mystic talking to Taco in her cage.  I am just sure they are plotting something.  LOL"

What a wonderful pair!  Lots of head and chin scratches to Mystic and Taco :-)
Tena, thank you so much for sharing them with us!

His land revitalizes her magic. But will a trip to the past assure their future?
