A Ghostly Mortality
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"I think that every book has a little bit o me in them. Emma Lee Raines, the sleuth, is more like me with her love of her small town, family, and friends. I'm not an undertaker."The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for A Ghostly Mortality - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"I knew I wanted a gravestone and my sleuth on each cover where the stone has a fun epitaph to go along with the ghost in the that book. I fill out a cover sheet to the publisher and they send it to the artist. After that the artist will send it back and forth to me until we get it exactly how it is in my head."Why should we read A Ghostly Mortality and what sets it apart from the rest? What makes your book unique?
"If you want a good life, a great mystery and see how we live in the south, and escape from the daily grind, this series is for you!"Can you tell us something quirky about A Ghostly Mortality, its story and characters?
"Well....all the ghosts are snarky and it can be a lot of fun. All my characters are quirky southern characters that are very memorable."Who would you recommend A Ghostly Mortality to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"Any one who love humor and clean cozy mysteries. Plus I'm known to have readers shed a tear or two."If you could / wished to turn A Ghostly Mortality and the Ghostly Southern Mysteries series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"Hahhaa! It wouId be fun to see this happen, but I have to tell you that I'm a writer, not a screenplay writer. I couldn't even tell you one director.
Location would have to be as beautiful as Kentucky!"
What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"I'm a cozy mystery only author. I read them too."What is your writing process?
"My process has changed over the past year. What is in store next?
I had four boys at home, all of which are now grown and three in college. When they were home, I got up every morning around 5 a.m. to start my day. I had a day job as a child therapist and picked up my boys from school. I would write in car line, sports practices and games or late at night.
Now writing is my full time job and my husband and I are pretty much empty nesters, so I get up later and write all day. It's great!"
"I'm currently in the middle of writing a ten book contract deal with Henery Press for another mystery series, Kenni Lowry Mystery Series. I love this series. And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
I've also started the first book in a new series contract with Crooked Lane for the Southern Baking Mystery. I'm super excited to see this series hit the shelves in 2018 because I get to bake!"
"Oh! You don't follow me on social media! Readers love my tripawd (three legged)Schnauzer Charlie and my other Schnauzer Scooter. They get more fan mail than me!"Well, they are cuties! Hello Charlie and Scooter! Lots of belly rubs to both of you :-)
