A very warm welcome to Jamie Schmidt; thank you for joining us on BooksChatter!

What was the inspiration for The Queen's Dance?

"I went to Lake Champlain, Vermont and while I was on a lunch boat ride, I decided to use the beautiful location in a story."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"The dragon Queen, Margery, hoards tea.  I have a whole cabinet in my kitchen devoted to all flavours of tea."
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for The Queen's Dance - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"The artist is the very talented Fiona Jayde.  She did the first book, The Queen's Wings' cover as well."
Why should we read The Queen's Dance and the Emerging Queen series? What sets it apart from the rest?
"The Emerging Queens series is about human women who shifted into dragon Queens after a curse was broken.  They have to learn about the dragon society the hard way.  To complicate matters, people are trying to kill them and the dragon studs are trying to mate with them."
Can you tell us something quirky about The Queen's Dance, its story and characters?
"I pictured Karen Gillan as Margery and Chris Pine as Remy."
Who would you recommend The Queen's Dance to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"This is definitely for dragon lovers who like a sexy romance.  Definitely for the over 18 crowd in terms of heat."
If you could / wished to turn The Queen's Dance and the Emerging Queens series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"Karen Gillan would be Margery and Chris Pine would be Remy."
What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"I like to write romances with a lot of heat and humour in them."
What is your writing process?
"BICFOK (Butt in Chair Fingers on Keyboard)"
What is in store next?
"This is the third book in the Emerging Queens series, but there are more Queens stories to tell."
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"I have a fluffy cat who likes to sit on my arm as I'm writing."
