Her plan was to stay a couple of years, build her resume and move on. It was a good one. Then Reel News bought them, and he offered her a position in New York as his full-time representative at the corporation’s headquarters. On paper, she’d be a producer in her own right as she coordinated efforts between the parent company and its Argentine subsidiary. In reality, her task was to use her unique talents to gather useful information for Gabriel. Her English had always been good, better than his, really, and by then she and Gabriel had reached an understanding about her telepathy. He understood her talents were small, and she could be trusted because he would know immediately if she couldn’t be. She understood her abilities were actually greater than his and she could keep him from knowing anything she didn’t want him to know. They were both content with the arrangement.
Once she moved to New York, Violeta was happy to be away from him and to have a glamorous adventure in another country. In fact, she was so thankful for the opportunity that she didn’t give much thought to what a U.S. communications conglomerate wanted with a clairvoyant Argentine manager. Instead, she watched as Gabriel and his new boss traveled the world, bringing back more companies, each with a telepathic and telegenic new executive.
Gabriel’s duties shifted to coordinating this group, which Warren dubbed “the monads.” Violeta’s focus turned to dampening her own talents as the number of telepaths at Reel News kept increasing.
Sitting in her mother’s kitchen, it was clear to her she should have been more concerned about what Reel News was trying to do. Warren Moore was likable enough in a rich I-don’t-have-time-for-you kind of way. But he used a strong hand in guiding how his reporters and subsidiaries handled the news. They didn’t just report it; they shaped and filtered it for a purpose. Because he had a hand in so many different countries now, there wasn’t so much an obvious political slant as there was an emotional bent to his message. If Violeta had to put it in a few words, it would be this. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Why would anyone want that?
For that matter, why would anyone want to build a second headquarters in a place as out-of-the-way as Ushuaia? Most of the world couldn't even pronounce the beautiful name "ew SWAY uh." Sitting mere kilometers from the tip of South America, there probably wasn’t a more remote city in the world.
That’s it. Reel News is coming to Tierra del Fuego because it’s the most difficult to reach populated place on any continent.
That made her shiver. A few dozen telepaths, possible control of the world’s news, and a bunker sheltered from most of humanity. This couldn’t be good.
Join an extraordinary family on a heart-pounding adventure as they face mortal danger.

About the Author
Sherrie Roth grew up in Western Kansas thinking there was no place in the universe more fascinating than outer space. After her mother vetoed astronaut as a career ambition, she went on to study journalism and physics in hopes of becoming a science writer. She published her first science fiction short story and then waited a lot of tables while she looked for inspiration for the next tale. When it finally came, it declared to her it had to be a whole book, nothing less. One night, while digesting this disturbing piece of news, she drank way too many shots of ouzo with her boyfriend. She woke up thirty-one years later demanding to know what was going on.
The boyfriend, who she had apparently long since married, asked her to calm down. He explained that, in a fit of practicality, she had gone back to school and gotten a degree in geophysics and had spent the last 28 years interpreting seismic data in the oil industry. The good news, according to Mr. Cronin, was she found it at least mildly entertaining and ridiculously well-paying. The bad news was the two of them had still managed to spend almost all of the money.
Apparently she was now Mrs. Cronin, and the further good news was they had produced three wonderful children whom they loved dearly, even though to be honest that is where a lot of the money had gone. Even better news was that Mr. Cronin turned out to be a warm-hearted, encouraging sort who was happy to see her awake and ready to write. "It's about time," were his exact words.
Sherrie Cronin discovered that over the ensuing decades Sally Ride had already managed to become the first woman in space and done a fine job of it. No one, however, had written the book that had been in Sherrie's head for decades. The only problem was the book informed her it had grown into a six book collection. Sherrie decided she better start writing before it got any longer. She's been wide awake ever since, and writing away.
