What was the inspiration for Living in Shadows?
What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
Hello Zeus and Ollie! You are both beautiful and very lucky to have found Anna. Lots of head-scratches and belly-rubs to both of you, Trixie and to your other fur-friends :-)
Anna, thank you so much for sharing Zeus, Ollie and Trixie with us; we also love animals and are into rescue - we currently have 18 beautiful and very healthy cats (all indoor babies) :-)
Living in Shadows
What was the inspiration for Living in Shadows?
"I’ve always thought wolves were such majestic animals. We own a cabin and spend many weekends there. We always have such fun and I wanted to incorporate the two into a book."How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"Again, it all falls back originally to our cabin. I’m kind of a klutz so some of the things that happen are from personal experience. Even some of the later experiences with the chipmunk happen often in my home. (nope not spoiling it.)"The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for Living in Shadows - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"Oh yes! Absolutely love my cover. Why should we read Living in Shadows and what sets it apart from the rest? What makes your book unique?
As you can see the cover model is John DeSalvo.
I met John 20 years ago at my first RT [Romantic Times] Convention. He is always so kind and down to earth. I’ve met him many times over the years and when my publisher gave me the chance to go to print, there was only one person that came to mind to be on my cover. I talked to him and he graciously gave me his blessing and the cover turned out wonderful.
Author Lynn Hubbard did a remarkable job creating the cover and I couldn’t be happier."
"I’ve tried to bring humour in with the romance. I like a fun read, like my couples to stand together and face obstacles, not battle each other to reach that HEA."Can you tell us something quirky about Living in Shadows, its story and characters?
Who would you recommend Living in Shadows to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?"The human characters, no, but all the fur babies in my story are indeed named after real animals. I’m a huge animal lover. And yes my fur babies at home are quirky."
Trixie - "my constant companion"
"Any one that enjoys romance, laughter and doesn’t mind some shapeshifting. If you could / wished to turn Living in Shadows into a movie, who would be your dream team?
The first book does involve a little hunting but I hope that doesn’t keep someone from enjoying the entire series as revenge is sweet and HEA is only a page away."
"WOW! I honestly can’t answer that as I’m not much of a TV watcher. If I’m not writing, I’m reading.
It would have to set in a very rural area. Cabins surrounded by woods, I picture the sound of water running in a stream. Fall leaves falling from trees.
I can clearly see the surroundings but again each person pictures their own hero as they read a book so my idea and a readers would be totally different. "
What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"I do not stick to a particular genre. What is your writing process?
I have a book published in contemporary set during the 911 attack.
I have a Historical, a YA and also a Western published.
Working on others in all genres as we speak.
I started out reading Historicals Only but have since changed to reading about Strong Alphas in a more Contemporary setting."
"I don’t plot, don’t outline. I write by the seat of my pants. I sit on my couch curled up with a notebook and paper and let the story take hold. I transfer to the computer and fill in as I read through my chicken scratches."What is in store next?
"I currently have a Historical set in Scotland I’m working on plus more of the 911 series. And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
I also am dabbling in some more YA books. I really want to write something to get kids interested in reading. My fur babies give me lots of ideas for books. I did mention they are quirky right?"
"I have 5 dogs and 2 cats in my house.
Yes, you read that right. In the last year I’ve rescued 2 dogs from terrible situations and am currently working on Zeus’s Redemption. He is a white boxer who came from an abusive home.
My cat Ollie was thrown from a car window into my driveway, after 6 months I was finally able to touch her. She’s now been here 3 years. I’m a huge believer in Rescue and couldn’t imagine life without them."
Anna, thank you so much for sharing Zeus, Ollie and Trixie with us; we also love animals and are into rescue - we currently have 18 beautiful and very healthy cats (all indoor babies) :-)
