Author Q&A

A very warm welcome to Saloni Quinby; thank you for joining us on BooksChatter!

What was the inspiration for Weapons of Redemption ?

"I wanted to write a series that included a lot of things, in particular paranormal elements, a group of men who are like brothers fighting for a common cause, and a main story arc that flows through the individual stories. I also wanted to include suspense and a little science fiction."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"Probably not much. My life isn't nearly as exciting as the lives of my characters! Also when I write characters, I try to make sure they have their own personalities. Usually that means that I don't always agree with what they do or say. Sometimes certain characters share my viewpoints or personality traits, but I try to avoid that if I can."
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for Weapons of Redemption - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"My publisher supplied the cover for Weapons of Redemption. I was able to provide ideas about what I wanted. My main concern was that the cover image resemble at least one of the characters in the book."
Why should we read Weapons of Redemption and what sets it apart from the rest? What makes your book unique?
"I've never been about trying to convince someone to read any book, including my own. I think if you read a blurb or an excerpt and the story appeals to you, then you should give it a try. If it doesn't, then move on to something else. That’s how I choose what to read next, and it has always worked well for me. If you're interested in m/m vampire romance with some suspense and science fiction included, please feel free to take a look at the Weapons of Redemption blurb and excerpt. Both can be found at https://www.changelingpress.com/product.php?"
Can you tell us something quirky about Weapons of Redemption , its story and characters?
"That's a great question, but hard to answer. The stories are all a little quirky. For me the quirkiest revelation was the love/hate relationship between the Weapons of Redemption and their father figure/enemy, Tarun. Its development was a bit surprising even to me."
Who would you recommend Weapons of Redemption to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"The book has explicit m/m sex scenes and also some violence. I would recommend it to readers who enjoy erotic m/m paranormal stories and those who don't mind some horror/suspense elements mixed with their romance."
If you could / wished to turn Weapons of Redemption series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"I really couldn't say. The jump from novel form to a movie usually requires so many changes that I'd leave it to the experts to decide. If it happened, I'd rather be surprised by the result."
What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"Though I prefer stories that include romance, I like to explore different subgenres. I've written historical, paranormal, science fiction, futuristic, comedy, horror, and suspense romance. I always write genres that I enjoy reading."
What is your writing process?
"I prefer to start with a loose outline, one that allows wiggle room for character development. Then I write the entire first draft, and after that I proof read and make many, many changes before submitting the story."
What is in store next?
"At the moment I'm revising several previously published stories. I plan to re-release them now that I have the rights back."
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"I have two cats and two dogs. Below is a photo of me with one of my dogs, as well as my two cats."
