A very warm welcome to Kate Deveaux; thank you for joining us on BooksChatter!
"Thank you so much for having me as your guest today, I love the opportunity to stop by to chat with you and your readers. Of course, I am shamelessly excited about sharing my new release with you Bottoms Up.

It’s a naughty cock tale book, a little play on words as the book is all about the sexy goings on at Justin’s bar and his special talent for making very dirty drinks. Drinks with names so sinfully sexy that I’ve included the recipes along with the story, as Lexi and Justin act out these naughty named cocktails — night after night."
What was the inspiration for Bottoms Up?
"The inspiration BOTTOMS UP came from a blog post I did a few years ago for the holidays featuring drinks with very naughty names. I had so much fun writing that post and researching those sexy drinks that I knew I’d want to write a story about a bartender who concocts such sinful drinks and the woman lucky enough to indulge her thirst for something truly toe curling.

I had so much fun writing Lexi and Justin’s story, letting the exploration of the naughty drinks lead the way for their passions to be unleashed and their romance explode, one very dirty cocktail at a time."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"Well, I do enjoy a good cocktail, not that I can say I ever ordered one in a bar with a name like "Pop My Cherry or Bend Me Over".

As for Lexi and Justin’s scandalously sexy romp at Bottoms Up after hours I’ll just say that I think every author’s experiences are reflected in every book we write. :-) And yes, I have seen one of those disappearing pool tables like at Justin’s bar…"
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for Bottoms Up - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"I LOVE the cover, Victoria Miller did a fabulous job, when I saw the draft I knew it was just what I wanted.

There are so many elements to the book, the sexy drinks, the scorching romance between Justin and Lexi that I didn’t want to limit the cover images to just a cocktail or just a bar.

I think Victoria completely captured the sexy flavor of the book with the screaming red dress and the hero nibbling suggestively at her neck. Even the font is playful and sassy just like the story."
Why should we read Bottoms Up and what sets it apart from the rest?
"You should read this book because you’ll never look cocktail list in a bar quite the same way again. :-)

Humor aside, I would like to think that Bottoms Up is unique in that it weaves the passionate and sensual story of two lovers with the naughty drinks and the way they act out the names of those dirty named drinks. It’s an unusual concept in contemporary romance and I hope it not only intrigues you as the reader but also engages you deeper into the story as you connect with Lexi and Justin’s story in a more intimate level.

And besides, I’d hope you’d read it because it’s just plain scandalously sexy sassy fun! "
Can you tell us something quirky about Bottoms Up, its story and characters?
"Quirky, ummm. Let me think about that.

I think the fact Justin works in the bar and lives there too, complete with swimming pool on his roof top that harkens back to the wild days of the bar when his uncle owned it might be kind of quirky.

Or that pool table… the one I mentioned you might want to check out in the Sex on The Pool Table scene.

Or the fact that Lexi is fluent in French and is only too eager to make the French Hooker cocktail with her own special flair."
Who would you recommend Bottoms Up to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"Anyone who loves a good sexy story with plenty of erotic romance. This book is erotic, so definitely not for anyone under 18. It features anal sex play and anal sex."
What has been your greatest challenge as a writer?
"All writers face challenges at different phases of our careers. For me personally the initial challenge of becoming a published author was by far the biggest hurdle I experienced. Now I think I would say it’s editing, not my favorite thing to do and also balancing my time when writing the book is just a small part of the job of an author. So much time is spent on the business of writing, it’s continually a challenge to fit it all in. But I love writing and always will so I squish it all in!"
What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?
"Toughest criticism, well when you get a review from someone that totally hated your book it does hurt. You try to shrug it off as just one against many of other fans who might love the book but we’re all human. So far I’ve been lucky as most of my colleagues where most reviewers and fans are so generous with their praise but once in a while a stinker of a review comes along and it ruins my whole day. :-)

Best compliment, when fans tell me they feel like they “know” my characters. And ask about when they will see them again in future books. That is really a great feeling to be asked."
What is your writing process?
"I write most days, usually juggling one or two novels at different stages of their story lines. And then a chunk of my time is spent on the business aspect, on promo and also on promoting my fellow authors by sharing their news.

I keep a big to do list and it’s always changing but that’s the fun of being an author and having lots of idea for books and not enough time in the day to write them all."
What is in store next?
"I’m just finishing up BIMINI BOUND, A Fit to Be Tied Novel. It’s a very sexy interracial ménage rubenesque romance set in a private yacht in the Bahamas. It’s set to release later this year."
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"I have a cat I adore. His name is Sassafras. He’s full grown now but this picture is just like he used to be when he was a kitten."
Love that pic! I need to catch one of mine in that kind of position! They are so cute when they are kittens. (OK, they are always cute!)

Thank you again for being with us, Kate, and sharing all about ...
