ℚ♫ The Warrior Prophet: The Watcher Saga [3] - Lisa Voisin

Today we have the pleasure of meeting up with author to talk about The Warrior Prophet (, Inkspell Publishing, 288 pages), a Young Adult Paranormal Romance / Urban Fantasy, book three of The Watcher Saga series.

"I read this book very fast, too fast. I didn't want it to end. The characters are great. I thoroughly enjoyed how Lisa connects energetic concepts with the human world. It was very easy to visualize what the characters were going through. This has been a great series. Thank you Lisa!" - Amazon Reviewer (Verified  Purchase)

Hello Lisa; welcome back to BooksChatter!

To start, as we love music, I would like to share a playlist of stuff Lisa listens to while writing - enjoy!

What was the inspiration for The Warrior Prophet?
"After I signed with Inkspell Publishing for The Watcher, my editor suggested I write a sequel. At first, I didn’t know what to write, but the idea for The Warrior Prophet (Book 3) actually came to me before The Angel Killer did.  So you could say this book is where I was headed.

Inspiration came from all over the place.  I study metaphysics, so the idea of negativity being embodied into form brought archetypal demons to life.  There’s so much information in the archetype.  It’s how our dreams and nightmares speak to us.  I’m pretty sure my vision of Hell came from somewhere deep in my unconscious.

I’ve wanted to write a journey story for some time and when I was re-watching the Lord of the Rings, the whole idea of an unreliable guide and a person changing on the way to their destination called to me."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"I’m always surprised by how much of myself appears in a book.  Because I’ve studied meditation and energy work, some of the principles I built the story world on were based on that.  I also studied sword work, so some of that came into play as well."
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover.  Can you tell us about your cover for The Warrior Prophet - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"Thank you.  I’m really thrilled with the cover.

One of the great things about Inkspell is that they let their authors work directly with the cover designer.  The designer, Najla Qamber, is amazing to work with.  We created a composite from some stock images. That’s where Naj’s genius lies.  She pulled it together beautifully and even managed to make Mia on this cover look like the same person as Mia on the cover of book 1."
Who would you recommend The Warrior Prophet to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"I would recommend this books to fans of young adult urban fantasy.  If you liked The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, or Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, this book would appeal to you."
If you could / wished to turn The Warrior Prophet and the The Watcher Saga series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"I totally have a Dream Cast.  It’s been posted before [back in April in our
Promotional Q&A - Check it out!]"
What do you like to write and read about?  Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"I like to write YA fantasy, all different kinds of fantasy.  The Watcher is a bit more like a paranormal romance, whereas The Angel Killer and The Warrior Prophet are more urban fantasy, or supernatural thriller.

I’ve tried writing other types of fiction, but it always has some sort of fantastical element. "
What is your writing process?
"I wish I could say I had a process.  I tend to sit and write a book from start to finish, then I organize and rewrite it.

I’m not a big outliner.  I have an idea of key points or scenes, but then I just write.  The effort is really in the revision stage.  And for that, I work with a great critique group."
What is in store next?
"My next plans are to write something completely different.  I’m trying to move out of Urban Fantasy for a little while.  My next book will still be fantasy, but more of a time travel, postal fantasy.  It’s a long way from being finished, though."
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"I do.  I have two cats.  One, Chairman Mao, is almost 20 years old, so he’s pretty frail.  The other, Popo, quite a bit younger.

I have no photos of me with both of them.  But I have a rare, exclusive photo of them sitting together (which never happens!)"
