A very warm welcome to Teresa Roman; thank you for joining us on BooksChatter and for sharing your music playlist with us! Enjoy!

What was the inspiration for Daughter Of Magic?
"Some of it came from one of my favourite TV shows, Charmed. I also had really specific personalities in my head when it came to creating my main characters. For example, I wanted my male main character to be a good guy, especially because Daughter of Magic is YA."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"There is a little bit of me in the main character, Lilli. At her age, I was rather shy and lonely the way she is. I wanted to find my place in this world, just like she longs to. "
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for Daughter Of Magic - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"The cover shows the main character looking over her shoulder while standing in a magical, mystical forest. I wanted the cover to make the reader think of magic, and of being in another world. I use Damonza for all my covers. They do spectacular work."
Why should we read Daughter Of Magic and what sets it apart from the rest? What makes your book unique?
"My characters are unique. Like I said earlier, Devin is a good guy. He’s not Mr. Perfect, but he’s definitely a departure from a lot of the bad boy characters that are popular these days. The book has a rather somber start to it. Lilli is mourning the death of the only parent she’s known. But as the story progresses, there are loving moments, passionate first kisses, and secrets that get revealed, culminating in one fantastic and magical happily ever after."
Can you tell us something quirky about Daughter Of Magic, its story and characters?
"Perhaps the location is the quirkiest aspect of the book. It takes place in a small Northern California city known for its natural beauty. Crescent City is home to some of the most beautiful redwood forests on the planet. For me, being around nature like that evokes a sense of magic, which is why I chose it for the story’s setting."
Who would you recommend Daughter Of Magic to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"It’s YA, so there is no graphic sex. It’s definitely appropriate for middle grade and up and for grown-ups who enjoy YA (like me). I would recommend Daughter of Magic to people who like a little magic mixed in with their romance reads."
If you could / wished to turn Daughter Of Magic into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"I would love it if the movie took place in Crescent City where the actual book takes place. As far as actors go I can really picture Ian Somerholder as Devin and Megan Fox as Lilli."
What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"I write books for both adults and young adults. I write contemporary romance and paranormal romance. The one uniting theme across all my books is romance. There’s got to be some love story in anything I write because that is also what I enjoy reading."
What is your writing process?
"I sneak in writing whenever I get the chance. I work in the medical field so I have crazy hours. I work nights and weekends sometimes. The one advantage to that is that I do sometimes have time off when the kids are in school. That’s when I get the bulk of my writing done."
What is in store next?
"Daughter of Magic is a planned duology. It will definitely be heavier on all things magical than the first book. I’m also writing a sequel to Back to Us, which is a New Adult contemporary romance."
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"I’ve got the cutest poodle/dachshund mix named Parker that my son begged for when he turned 9. We got Parker from a local animal rescue shelter and he’s definitely part of the family."
Awww, what a sweet little face! Hello Parker! :-D
Thank you so much for sharing this lovely picture with us!
