Hello Rachel; welcome back to BooksChatter!

As we love music Rachel has shared with us her music playlist for Payable On Death - enjoy! (p.s. I love this stuff!)

What compelled you to write Payable On Death?
"The idea for Jax’s story came to me when I was driving in my car and Heaven Knows came on the radio.  I had most of it mapped out before I got to where ever it was I was going, lol."
LOL Thank you Taylor Momsen and the Pretty Reckless.

How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?

"Some of my personality is reflected in Jax.  I think that’s probably true for any character I write.

Also, a little of her experience coming up, that feeling of rather being out than being home, not having that sense of safety in your house.  It wasn’t always that way, but unfortunately there were times when it was."
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for Payable On Death - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"I came across the image in a stock photo site and new it was Jax.

Najla Qamba perfected it and turned it in to what you see today.  She really nailed the feel I was going for and for those in the know- yes, that really is Baltimore’s skyline in the back.  Lol."
Baltimore's Skyline
Why should we read Payable On Death and what sets it apart from the rest?
"I’m awful at answering these questions, lol!  I’m more of a humorously self-deprecating person so answering questions about what sets me apart....  How about, why not read it?  What have you got to lose, except for yourself inside a book for a few hours?"
Can you tell us something quirky about Payable On Death, its story and characters?
"All of the places exist, from Bad Decisions, Blue Moon, to Mt. Royal Tavern.

All of Jax’s favourite haunts are places you can haunt yourself."
Who would you recommend Payable On Death to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"New Adult to Adult Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy lovers would enjoy Payable On Death.  No disclaimers, I think it’s a pretty safe read.  Nothing to untoward happens, lol!"
If you could / wished to turn Payable On Death and the Jax Rhodes series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"Eek, the movie question!  I hardly ever watch TV and not a whole lot of movies so I have no idea who anyone is inside the People magazines anymore!  My younger brother has a start-up film company in New York, so let’s go with Little Fish Productions!"
What has been your greatest challenge as a writer?
"Stopping life from getting in the way of writing; finding time or better yet, making time is difficult.  I still work full time, have three children ranging from elementary to college ages, my husband and my fourth baby HallowRead Book Convention.  All of which require me to be present for.  Writing seems to be happening at 1 hours spurts between 5:00am and 6:00am."
21-23 October 2016, Havre de Grace, Maryland

What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author?

"That I was good enough to impress family and friends or perhaps my high school English teacher but not enough to be a professional author.
What has been the best compliment?
A reader just recently emailed me to say thank you for helping her escape life for a while in the pages of my books.  That right there, man, does it get any better?"
What is in store next?
"Jax has two more novels to go to wrap up her trilogy so look for Payable On Demand and Paid In Full to hit booksellers late 2016 and 2017.

Maurin Kincaide, my first series has at least one adventure left in her, lol.

And I have a couple stand alones on my to be written list.  It’s All Death To Me and A Haunted Life.  Enough to keep me busy until 2018. ;)"
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"I have a mug problem.  A straight up mug addiction.  PS, I loathe getting my picture taken. I am my own worst critic so the pictures will be of my mugs but won’t have my mug in them! ;)"
Well, I know exactly where you are coming from... in relation to both mugs... (and pint glasses...) so mugs without the actual mug are perfectly fine ;-)
