A very warm welcome to Michael Brecht, CEO of Doodle; thank you for joining us on BooksChatter.

What was the inspiration for The Productivity Book?

"I am constantly in talks with productivity experts who help busy people manage their time more efficiently.  These experts shared a lot of their secrets with me over the years, hence I started to write down these findings to make them available to a wider audience."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"Firstly, The Productivity Book is about the advice these experts share with us.  I myself wrote the afterword, which summarizes the major findings, so if you are too busy to read the whole book, you should at least read the afterword.  In there, you’ll find quite a few insights from myself too."
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover.  Can you tell us about your cover for The Productivity Book - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"Our agency helped with the cover, it reflects the various means an effective lifestyle is relying on illustrated by a more technical visual."
Why should we read The Productivity Book and what sets it apart from the rest?  What makes your book unique?
"Our book is unique as it provides real value through input from 30 time management experts and my own advice.  It is practical, and helps in a very concrete way to reflect on your daily habits.

The feedback we have received so far is tremendous with many readers thanking us for all these recommendations."
Can you tell us something quirky about The Productivity Book?
"Well, I have to admit that the various authors themselves are unusual, each one has a certain quirkiness.  As we provide real advice for your own personal schedule, this book is written in a very personal style."
Who would you recommend The Productivity Book to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"The 30 productivity experts have given their personal recommendations hence this is about how to improve your daily time management.  No warnings needed, findings from this book can be applied in your business and in your private life."
If you could / wished to turn The Productivity Book into a documentary, who would be your dream team?
"I guess the 30 productivity experts themselves.  They would best be acting as testimonials for their own advice given."

What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"The Productivity Book is about managing your business and personal time more effectively; here I aim to contribute to everybody’s productivity and time management.

I also write a blog about these topics called www.michaelbrecht.com - here I write about productivity topics but also about the many events where I speak to either business people, students etc.

Thirdly, I have been running a wine blog for almost 10 years now called www.downunderwines.net where I write about my personal hobby, the great wines, vineyards and winemakers of this world."
I love the wine blog... except it is in German hence I will have to rely on Google Translate... :-P

What is your writing process?

"I write as I speak - no hidden facts, all very much blog style.  This is when I am best."
What is in store next?
"While working as the CEO of Doodle, the world’s favorite scheduling app, I continue to meet highly interesting people, from productivity sectors as much as while speaking to groups of business people or university students.

Who knows, there might be a book out there in one of these fields."
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"Yes, we do have a pet – it is an Australian Labradoodle, no joke!  And her name is: Pinot, following the name of my favorite grape.  I’ll see whether I can find a pic of her and send it to you in the coming days."
:-D  Please do send us a picture of Pinot, we would love to see her!
And a little confession... all of our animals are named after alcoholic drinks, alas only one was named after a grape - Shiraz.

Thank you again so much for taking the time to be with us today, Michael.  I hope you have a great tour and we wish you all the best with your endevours.
