Synopsis

Heather Hawkins, a newly changed Monster Hunter, thought life couldn't get any more complicated after the incident at the tower one week ago. With Kadin gone, she thinks life will finally go back to the way it should be. Until The Council calls a meeting for her and Hayden to discuss the incident.

Hayden Williams is released from the hospital and wants to put all of the things he saw that night to the back of his mind. When The Council decides to meet with him, his hope is that he can get it done and over with so he can finally move on with his life. That doesn't happen when he realizes his family has a big secret; one that he is very much a part of.

Other forces against the Monster Hunters have different plans. Heather, Hayden, and their friends start unraveling the truth about the world they live in, and dangers are lurking in the shadows. A danger that could lead them all to their demise. In the second book in this paranormal young adult series, secrets will be revealed, and enemies will join hands, leaving you with an ending that no one could see coming.

Teaser: Excerpt

I’d made the decision that I needed to talk to Hayden before we all met with the Council tomorrow. Putting my shoes back on from the training session and grabbing my phone, I said, “Alright, so I’m going to head out. I need to go back sure that Hayden’s okay being back home and all.”
     “I’ll drive you,” Philip offered.
As if he wasn’t already enough of a problem. After spending all day with him and dealing with my inconsistent feelings of like/hate for him, I really didn’t want to spend any more time with Philip. “I think I can walk it from here.”
Kristen was sitting on the couch and glanced up from her phone, pushing the blonde hair with the black streak out of her eyes. “Let him drive you,” she said. “It’s getting chilly outside.” Which was code for, I don’t mind him taking you.
Well, just because she seemed to approve didn’t mean I did. Even if Philip was a changed man, he still cheated on Kristen, which was not okay with me. Yes, we’d shared a kiss, and even had a few moments like the one in my kitchen over a week ago with the bubbles, but that meant nothing. Right?
“Like I said, I can do it,” I said. As soon as I spoke those words, I heard thunder in the sky and my face fell flat. Why did the universe hate me so much?
“Looks like you won’t be walking tonight, Heather,” Philip said with a smirk. He held his hand to his ear and pretended to listen to me. “Now what was that about not wanting a ride?”
He was so lucky he was attractive or I may have said something mean. Grunting, I said, “Fine. I’ll let you drive me, but just know I didn’t want it.”
Grabbing his keys off the table, he smirked at me again. “Sure you didn’t.”
Why did he have to be so smug? Following behind Philip up the stairs and out of the Hideout, I hoped that this ride would go smoothly. Philip was in the emergency room the night of the incident at the tower, but was released the next day due to fast healing (which is when being a Monster Hunter really comes in handy). I remembered how scared I was that he might die, but I had to remind myself he’d make it through. Now that he was out and we’d been training, I had been avoiding a moment like this. I didn’t want to be alone with him for any amount of time except to train, because I knew if I did, I’d start to have feelings again. Liking Philip was not something I wanted to do, especially with everything else going on.
When we got outside, it was pouring rain, and we had to run through it to get to his car. When we got in, I didn’t say a word as he turned on the heater and started the engine. We rode in silence for the whole way to Hayden’s house, and when we got there, Philip parked in the driveway but said nothing.

Forbidden Darkness [1]

Being a sixteen year old Monster Hunter sucks. That’s what Heather Hawkins learns just days before her sixteenth birthday. After dealing with her best friend, Kristen’s, attempted suicide, the last thing Heather wants is any more drama.

When the realistic dreams of Heather being haunted by a guy named Kadin begin, she learns the truth. She is a Monster Hunter, and on her birthday, she will undergo a change that will make her stronger, more powerful, and nearly invincible to Monsters. Along with having a hot new trainer named Philip, she believes that this will be a new beginning for herself.

Unfortunately, Monsters aren’t the only thing Heather needs to worry about. With someone stalking her dreams, she realizes there may be more than just Monsters in the world, and that Kadin will do anything to stop her from helping the Monster Hunters. Even if that means unleashing an entity that was locked away by his people thousands of years ago. In this all-new paranormal young adult series, romances will be formed, evil becomes unleashed, and everyone Heather loves will soon be at risk. Because in a world where Monsters walk the earth, anything is possible.
