Synopsis

Jonah doesn’t want to run–he has to. There’s only so much pain one man can cause before he needs to start over. Unstuck from his tainted past, he craves the anonymity he can only achieve by vanishing like a specter in the night.

Before his new life is even underway, a chance encounter leaves him in possession of a curious object–something the mysterious Keepers of The Oracle will kill to obtain, but there’s more to the Keepers than Jonah could possibly imagine. They have the ability to do much worse than kill, and now he's in their sights.

The Keepers wield power unlike anything Jonah has ever seen, and they’re closing in fast. He’s placed a new group of innocents in danger this time, and he can’t run away again.

Teaser: Excerpt

Jonah stood paralyzed, a steady stream of humanity breaking around him and reforming on the other side. He was an island of indecision in an otherwise unwaveringly confident place. People rarely went to an airport not knowing exactly what they planned to do, but he had. He didn’t know where he was going, just that he needed to go.
He'd thought on more than one occasion he ought to check out. The glint of a razor blade, a twinge of pain, and the glorious ruby-red release of death. After planning and aborting the act a few times, he realized calling suicide the easy way out was a little unfair. It took a kind of resolve he no longer had.
Jonah could count on one hand the number of times he had left the mundane security of the Pacific Northwest, but everything was different now. The proceeds from auctioning off his possessions made for a nice bit of walking around money. Not enough to live off of indefinitely, but enough to take him far from home.
The weight of his backpack was comforting. It held his entire life. He stood in the airport, just six months after his old life ended, and had no idea what was coming next.
Flights materialized on the board, spelled out in the glowing pixels of gently humming plasma screens. A flight to New York appeared, and he felt around the edges of the idea. There were things to like about that course of action, but the heart of it felt wrong. Flights to Toronto and Mexico City were also available, but he came to the same conclusion.
