ℚ♫ Riders of the Lightning Storm: Horse Passages [2] - Jennifer Macaire

Today we have the pleasure of meeting up with author to talk about Riders of the Lightning Storm (, Evernight Teen Publishing, 109 pages), a Young Adult Sci-fi Romance, book two of the Horse Passages series.

“Horse Passages by Jennifer Macaire is the story Carl and Meagan Cadet and the Federation, a group devoted to saving the beautiful and magical horses who travel through galaxies.

Readers will follow Meagan and Carl as they choose to join forces with the Jeffries brothers and pursue battle with the Raiders.  Meagan and Luke Jeffries find themselves have to escape from the captivity of the barbaric aliens, something that has never before been done.

An engaging novel taking place on a world far away, featuring an intimately detailed plot, Horse Passages is very highly recommended as action/adventure science fiction novel and an altogether entertaining read.”

A very warm welcome to Jennifer Macaire; thank you for joining us on BooksChatter.

We love music - do you have a music playlist that you used in Riders of the Lightning Storm, or which inspired you whilst you were writing it?

"I listened to Muse a lot when writing this book – my son made me a CD for Christmas with some of my favorite music on it – Muse, the Verve with Bittersweet Symphony, and Apocalyptica with Nothing Else Matters."
Ah, Muse and Apocalyptica are two of my favourites.  I have compiled a playlist for us to enjoy with the songs you mentioned as well as Knights of Cydonia, followed by a Muse and Apocalyptica binge ;-) I hope you enjoy it!

What was the inspiration for Riders of the Lightning Storm?
"The book started from a dream I had – I woke up the next day and started to write it down, and it just kept going into this story!"
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"I am a horse lover from way back – so all the horse parts of the story were easy to write. The soace travel was a little more tricky, lol."
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover.  Can you tell us about your cover for Riders of the Lightning Storm - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"Jay Aheer is the artist, and she is completely amazing.  She perfectly captured the mood of Riders of the Lightning Storm."
Why should we read Riders of the Lightning Storm and what sets it apart from the rest?
"C'mon!  Horses travelling through space!  Space cowboys!  Alian raiders!  A tender love story – what more do you need? "
Oh, well, when you put it like that... :-)

Who would you recommend Riders of the Lightning Storm to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?

"I think anyone would like this book – guys, girls, horse lovers, or even those who aren't into horses – it's a pretty universal story."
If you could / wished to turn Riders of the Lightning Storm and the Horse Passages series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"I have a screenplay all set – I sent it to Australia, because they do a lot of horse-themed movies.  My dream would be for Disney to pick it up and film it with Willow and Jaden Smith as the Cadet twins, Jake Justin Walker for Luke, and Lucas Till for Jonah Skeeter!"
What is in store next?
"I'm working on the third book in the Horse Passages series, and it's taking me on a crazy journey.  I have to find the Raider's home planet – but do I really want to go there? "
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"I have a dog who thinks he's entitled to everything – he's a wire-haired dauchshund called Auguste and he bosses us all around. My daughter taught him how to play dead though, and it's hysterical.

We also have a horse – called Kalin des Vents, who was a champion event horse before bowing both front tendons.  My daughter nursed him back to health and now she show jumps him.  She also taught him to bow, and when he sees her, he kneels down for treats!

Here is a picture of my daughter on her horse, with Auguste!"
Thank you for sharing! And have a great tour :-)
